since my last entry. Finally I'm able to remove my wrist brace for short times each day and this makes me better able to type. I still use the brace at night or if I need to lean on my hand for transfers, etc. Otherwise it is such freedom! Still have to be careful as the wrong move brings on pain but most of the healing is complete.
I don't remember if I mentioned that I'm working on a pair of leg warmers for myself. Winter can be hard on an old gal and even though I'm not in the coldest of climates in the Pacific NW, it is still chilly around here. Snow is pretty but the slushiness that comes with warming up a bit is both chilly and dangerous.
The leg warmers are a basic pattern of knit 2 purl 2 at the top and bottom and straight knit stitch between. I'm knitting on straight needles so the knit is knit on one side and purl on the other. No particular number of rows, just fit to the size of your leg. Do be sure to do a gauge knit with the yarn you want to use and to use a larger size needle for the top of your leg and to knit off loosely. Instead of switching to larger needles, you could add stitches, but I find it easier to just switch to larger needles. I'm doing a three inch ribbing at the ankle and a four inch ribbing at the top of my leg--up to the knee.
Spin happy and knit without fear!
